My fiancé’s family is Indian, and I will need an eggless cake. Where would I find this?
With so many special dietary needs in the world today we are grateful for bakeries like Unrefined Bakery in Dallas. They offer custom dietary options such as gluten free, corn free, dairy free, and more. They can definitely create an eggless cake for you.
When it comes to restrictions in diet and your wedding cake, or catering for that matter we suggest letting your fingers do the walking. Call these types of bakeries and caterers and ask, we believe you will find the wedding industry to be most helpful! Most businesses started because they have a personal story regarding their own dietary needs, so they will be extra knowledgeable and may be able to connect you with other vendors that will work for you too.
Another option is doing one eggless layer of your cake while the other layers are traditional. There are bakeries, such as Annie’s Culinary Creations in Dallas that will team up with Unrefined to create a cake that combines both eggless and traditional.
Have any bakers in the family? There are tons of eggless cake recipes online that have gotten rave reviews. Baking isn’t for everyone and we know baking your own wedding cake can seem daunting, but if you happen to have a friend or family member with a knack for cooking don’t be afraid to partner up and try it. You can always do a practice cake for peace of mind.
With dietary restrictions, out of the box thinking is important! A willingness to be flexible and stray from the traditional cake can give you more options - Like replacing the cake with a dessert specific to your cultural traditions.
I need Help finding a wedding dress…
For starters, yes, you are going to have to try on lots of dresses. In fact, we recommend that you do! But you don’t have to try on random dresses. We suggest you do some research ahead of time, so you aren’t flying blind when you show up to your dress appointment. Start by finding inspiration looking at magazines and online for dresses you love. Then jot down what you like about those styles and the designers. If it’s important to you, you can also research what silhouettes will work best with your body type. Compile a list or an inspiration board with the dresses you absolutely adore and dresses you think might be flattering.
Next, look for stores that carry those dress styles and designers and schedule a fitting. Once the appointment is set, firm up your budget. It’s VERY easy to go over budget if you don’t have a plan of attack and a firm number in your head when dress shopping. Start with the less expensive dresses you like first, if they don’t work move up in price range.
If your budget is tight don’t’ forget to look for trunk shows, pop up shops (like at Denton Bridal Show), and even sample sales. These sales often offer top designer dresses for a fraction of their retail cost. Remember to factor in the cost of tailoring and accessories when determining your budget.
Don’t panic about bridal sizing. Your gowns size could be one to two sizes higher than your normal clothes. It’s perfectly normal. Order your dress to fit you, not the future you. And remember it’s easier to take in a dress than to let it out.
Start looking for your dress early, it can take up to 8 months for a dress to be ready from ordering to tailoring etc...
We LOVE getting all your questions! Hope our answers help.
