DBS says Bon Voyage!

Ya’ll. It’s cruise week here at the Denton Bridal Show! The team will be flying to Miami on Saturday and jumping aboard a Carnival Cruise ship in anticipation of spending time relaxing, regrouping, and planning the agenda for this year. And Guess what? We have decided to bring you along via social media, and not just because it’s fun to share vacay photos, but because we know that planning honeymoons or destination weddings on a budget can be daunting. So, we’d like to share things we learn along the way!

Let’s talk travel research. Obviously, we aren’t the experts in this area and we certainly aren’t claiming to be. That’s the entire point. We want to document the experience from an amateur travelers’ perspective, because that is where most couples are starting out!

So, for starters, if you have never booked travel via the internet, it’s really never been easier. Sites like Expedia, Priceline, Booking.com, Travelocity have earned excellent reputations for their easy navigation and great package deals. And sites like Trip Advisor have become absolute necessities in investigating the place you are looking at prior to booking by allowing you to review photos of hotels and condos uploaded by real guests. It’s the closest you can get to seeing what the place actually looks like versus the professional website photos before you close the deal.

When considering booking a honeymoon or destination wedding via the internet, there are a couple things we think you should remember:

  1. You don’t have to take your honeymoon right after your wedding. Getting married at a peak time for travel? Plan your honeymoon a few months later when prices are cheaper.

  2. Be flexible! Try sites like Travel Zoo or Hopper that will send you alerts for deals to destinations you are interested in traveling.

  3. Be open! You don’t have to go somewhere far away to have fun! There are a lot of options in Texas and surrounding areas. If you must go tropical, consider South Padre or Galveston. Looking for a snowy destination or mountain cabin vibe? Colorado is only 10 hours away. Want something totally different? Head to Marfa or New Mexico for southwest desert vibes! There are so many great options - you just need to be creative and do a little digging.

  4. Don’t forget about cruise options! They are, after all, hassle-free and all inclusive. There are so many inexpensive trips leaving out of Galveston, and Texas residents get a discount as well.

We are really excited to share what we learn about cruise travel during this particular trip, as well as tips and tricks for making the most of the Ports! And, since the three of us here at Denton Bridal Show have never traveled together before, we just might throw in some bonus tips on how stay friends while out at sea.

So stay tuned - this could get juicy!
